Lt. Col. William E. (Bill) and Betty Schumpert of Newberry recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. They were married June 20, 1947 in Newberry, S.C.

Their children are Elaine (James) Hawkins of Newberry, Ron (Teri) Schumpert of Columbia and Greg Schumpert of Fort Worth, Texas. They have three grandchildren — Chris Hawkins, Michelle (Kyle) Vaughn and Sharon (Larry) Bryant — and six great-grandchildren, Matthew and Mason Hawkins, Brock and Makayla Bryant Kathren Hamby and Max Vaughn.

They celebrated their occasion with a reception with family and friends.
