NEWBERRY — The Newberry Observer is collecting school supplies through Aug. 11 at its office on Main Street for distribution to students and teachers in Newberry County.

Donations can include any kind of school supplies such as pencils, binders, crayons, primary paper, notebook paper, glue sticks, scissors (safety), index cards, spiral notebooks, Ziploc bags, plastic folders, pencil pouch, highlighters and anything else a student might need to get the year started off on the right foot. Supplies can be for any grade.

We also will be accepting donations of classroom supplies for teachers such as paper towels, hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes, colored paper, tissues, colored pens, staplers and staples, Post-It notes, tape, markers, dry erase markers and anything teachers can provide to students who don’t have their own supplies the first day of school.

The Observer also will accept backpacks stuffed with school supplies.

Those wanting to help can drop supplies off at The Newberry Observer, 1716 Main St., between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Collection will continue through Aug. 11 at which time the supplies will be taken to the District Office.
