NEWBERRY — During the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet, Cathy Cain was named the 2018 Ambassador of the Year by Michelle Long, executive director of the Chamber.

“This person (later announced to be Cain) has been a dedicated volunteer and ambassador for the Chamber for quite some time,” Long said. “She serves on the Special Events Committee and helps plan events, including setting up, cleaning up and running errands.”

Cain has opened her home for various functions, including for Newberry County Young Professionals events, as well as Chamber Events. In fact, one event she hosted was for an Ag+Art Tour information meet and greet, prior to Newberry County joining the tour.

“(Cain) is a former board member, and was most recently an ‘elf’ for our Santa’s Workshop,” Long said. “She often checks in to offer her assistance with whatever we may have going on at the time.”

On being named the Ambassador of the Year, Cain said as a member of an awesome group, she feels honored to have been recognized as the Ambassador of the Year.

“The Newberry Chamber has many who give of their time and talents, supporting its initiatives. It has been my pleasure to support Michelle and Liz in each of their endeavors, and I look forward to another exciting year working with the Chamber,” she said.
