PROSPERITY – Katherine Hawkins Fulmer, 80, widow of Herbert S. Fulmer Jr., died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at her residence.

Born on March 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Dottie Merchant Hawkins of Prosperity. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the finance committee and served as a past church treasurer and organist for a number of years. Mrs. Fulmer was a graduate of Newberry College and was a charter member of the Newberry County Forestry Association.

Mrs. Fulmer is survived by a son, Herbert S. (Patricia) Fulmer III of Prosperity; a daughter, Dottie J. Fulmer of Charleston; grandchildren, Ashley (Evan) Ruff of Greenville, Jason S. Fulmer of Chapin and Hillary Carlisle Fulmer of Prosperity.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6–8 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke’s Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
