PROSPERITY - Harold Lee Parker, 87, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on Sept. 6, 1925, in Cherokee, N.C., he was a son of the late William Hillard and Cora Lee Lambert Parker.

He was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Mr. Parker was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and was retired from Vulcan Materials. He was a member of Park Road Baptist Church, was a Shriner and a Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Wilson Parker; a son, Billy (Diane) Parker of Prosperity; a daughter, Deborah (Marion) McClary of Dalzell; brothers, Herbert Parker of Prosperity and Lewis Parker of Ft. Worth, Texas; six granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Parker was predeceased by sister, Gladys Parker Warren, a brother, John Williams Parker, and a great-grandson, Blake Goshen.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by Pastor Clyde Mabery. Burial with military honors will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:30–2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Park Road Baptist Church, 360 State Park Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Stewart, Phil Goshen, Jonathan Sturkie, Heath Smith, Aaron Franklin and Jonathan Koopman.
