NEWBERRY — Newberry High school will hold a Big Dog Event this Saturday to help raise money for the Newberry High Booster Club. The event take places at the Newberry Shrine Club on Shrine Club Road.

Tickets for the event cost $100 and Chad Cary, Newberry High School’s athletic director, expects between 100 to 200 community members to attend.

“With the community support at our sporting events, and fundraiser events, we are able to keep our student athletes active in their respective teams,” said Cary.

Each participant at the event receives a catered meal from Ronnie’s Buffet and Grill in Newberry, music from a live DJ, an auction to participate in and good conversation.

Ronnie Cannon, of Ronnie’s Buffet and Grill, said, “The community always packs these kinds of events, and it is always a good time.”

Cannon also said he is always happy to cater these events with the school.

“It’s a lot of hard work, takes about 4-5 hours to prepare all the food, but I’m always happy to work with the high school and the Booster Club.”

With anticipated amount of guest and price of admission, the booster club is projected to raise anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000.
