The City of Newberry honored Ken Swygert for his 25 years as a volunteer with the Newberry Fire Department. Swygert is one of two volunteers with the city who completed the course work to become an interior certified firefighter and has obtained his national fire protection certification though the S.C. Fire Academy. He is also a past president of the NFD Company and assisted the department with numerous special events and fundraisers. Swygert is a mechanic for Wilson Tractor and plays with the band Steele Justice. Pictured, left to right, are Mayor Foster Senn, Swygert, Fire Chief Keith Minick and City Manager Jeff Shacker as they present Swygert with artwork to honor his 25 years with the city.
