NEWBERRY COUNTY — Despite the White House’s decision to no longer offer tours for visitors effective March 9, Fifth District Congressman Mick Mulvaney encourages residents to call his office to schedule tours of the U.S. Capitol while visiting Washington, D.C.
Residents can contact Mulvaney’s office by calling 202-225-5501 to ask about scheduling a tour of the nation’s capitol. The Fifth District includes all of Newberry County.
“The White House cited budget cuts, or the ‘sequester,’ as the reason tours will no longer be offered,” he said in a statement. “Since I was sworn in a little over two years ago, my office budget has been cut by nearly 20 percent. My budget also took the same cut all agencies took as a result of ‘sequestration.’ I have worked hard to cut waste in my budget just as American families do every day, and I will continue to provide necessary services to constituents of the Fifth District.”
