ROCK HILL – Newberry College women’s basketball sophomores Haylee Lepaio and Samantha Creed has been named to the All-South Atlantic Conference First Team.

The selection of Lepaio and Creed, which was announced Wednesday, marks the first time the Wolves have had multiple All-SAC honorees since the 2009-10 season when Anita Bulcher was named to the All-SAC First Team and Helen McKinney earned All-SAC Second Team honors.

Creed and Lepaio’s selections to the All-SAC First Team, mark the first time that more than one Newberry woman has been named to the conference first team.

Both Newberry players earned their first ever All-SAC First Team selection.

Creed finished third in the SAC in scoring average with 15.3 points per game and was the conference champion in free throw percentage at 86.5-percent. Creed made her collegiate debut by scoring 28 points in the Wolves’ 64-58 win over UNC Pembroke, a performance that led Creed to be named SAC Player of the Week and to the OrthoCarolina Classic All-Tournament Team.

Creed scored in double-digits on 23 times in the regular season and surpassed 20 points four times. In Newberry’s 75-66 home victory over Carson-Newman, Creed scored 35 points and entered the Newberry record books with the fourth most single game points in school history.

Creed was also among the conference leaders in assists and steals, notching over five assists in a game nine times and over three steals in a game on seven occasions.

Lepaio, the reigning SAC Freshman of the Year, was an All-SAC Second Team selection a year ago and was also named to the SAC All-Freshman Team. Regionally, Lepaio earned DAKTRONICS All-Southeast Region Second Team honors a year ago.

This season Lepaio led the SAC in scoring with 18.5 points per game and finished second in rebounding average with 8.8 rebounds per game. A preseason All-SAC First Team selection, Lepaio was named to the OrthoCarolina Classic All-Tournament Team at the start of the season as she helped lead the Wolves to a 2-0 opening weekend.

Lepaio earned SAC Player of the Week honors on three occasions. The Wolves’ post notched double-digit scoring on 24 occasions and surpassed 20 points in 11 games. Nine times this season, Lepaio not only reached 10 rebounds, but she posted a double-double. Lepaio also blocked more than three shots in a game on five occasions.
