NEWBERRY — C. W. “Willie” Johnson, 71, of 520 O’Neal St., Newberry.

He was born on March 2, 1941, a son of the late William I. “Sleepy” and Mildred Foy Johnson. He retired as a Lieutenant with the City of Newberry Police Department after 26 years of service.

He was a member of O’Neal St. United Methodist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marie Gordon Johnson; four daughters, Kathy (Wayne) Traylor of Mt. Airy, Ga.; Carrie Lynn Johnson of Pomaria, Melony (Ryan) Fellers of Prosperity; and Beverly (Steve) Brehmer of Kinards; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his brother, Micky Foy Johnson Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at O’Neal Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Goldie and the Rev. Jeff O’Dell. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Carrie Johnson, 1966 Ringer Road, Pomaria, SC.

Honorary pallbearers will be current and past Newberry City and County Law Enforcement Officers.
