NEWBERRY — Mary Kibler Patterson, 76, of Springfield Place, Newberry, and widow of Gary Patterson, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson.

She was born on July 1, 1936, in Newberry, a daughter of the late Johnnie C. and Varie Gibson Kibler.

She was a member of West End Baptist Church and also attended Carpenter’s Church in Anderson. Mary was an avid bowler and was also a member of the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by a daughter Pamela Derrick Knight (Mark) of Columbia; a son, Bruce W. Derrick of Piedmont; grandchildren, Jessica Knight Blake (Joshua) of Greenville, and Korin Knight Rogerson (Andrew) of Columbia; brothers, E. Clarence Kibler and Dell E. (Linda) Kibler all of Newberry and A.R. “Bob” Kibler of Anderson.

She was predeceased by her sister, Belivia “Kitty” Millsaps of Newberry.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the West End Baptist Church in Newberry by the Rev. Kevin Carter. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Millsaps, Joey Allen, Joshua Blake, Andrew Rogerson, Danny Barrett, Benji Bouknight and Nicholas Barrett.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4200 Morganton Road, Suite 300, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
