Newberry Middle outscores Mid-Carolina

PROSPERITY — The Newberry Middle School basketball teams defeated Mid-Carolina Middle on Monday.

The Newberry girls top Mid-Carolina 41-18.

Newberry’s Rayanna Davis was the top scorer with 22 points. Nigeria Davis scored eight points and was followed by Lindsay Ruff, who made seven points for the Newberry Tigers. Kelsey Felks added three points and Anna Grey scored a free throw point.

For the Rebel’s attack Charlsy Traylor led the scoring effort with five points and she had five rebounds.

Alex Fulmer followed with four points, a steal and a rebound. Cassi Ruff added three points, a steal and a rebound. Chazity Counts, Gracen Hester and Callie Blanchard all scored two points for the Rebels. Jessica Morris added an additional point for Mid-Carolina.

The boys game was much closer with Newberry edging out Mid-Carolina 48-44. Malcolm Aiken was the top scorer for Newberry with 18 points. Tyrell Mendenhall followed with 12 points.

Sentrell Quattlebaum and Derrick Scurry both scored six points. Tariq Goodman added three points, Robert Houston had two and Khaleed Hare rounded out the scoring with a point.

For the Rebels Corey Stone led with 15 points. Keenan Boland had nine points. Zachary Hentz scored eight points.

Cade Ruff made five points, Jaterran Wise added four points and Iyon Thompson had three points.
