South Carolina seems to be in the national news, almost daily. Why?

Most of the time someone is announcing their intent to start, or relocate, their company in our lovely state.! This is always great news, especially to those living in or near the county chosen.

However, I say to you that each of us should be excited to see growth anywhere in South Carolina. Why?

It really is very simple. You see, when companies elect to come to our state, generally there will also be several smaller companies also choosing to move so they can supply products, in a timely manner, to meet the demands of the larger relocating company.

I feel we are fortunate here in Newberry County to be represented by two of the finest leaders in South Carolina. Due to the realignment following the last census, we now are represented in our State House by only one representative, and he is Mr. Walton J. McLeod.

We are represented by only one senator and he is Mr. Ronnie Cromer.

Every year we look forward to hearing their thoughts regarding what is happening at our State House. So, in 2013, what can we expect to see? You have the opportunity on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 a.m. to meet these leaders at your chamber’s Quarterly Legislative Breakfast which will be held this year at Dee’s Family Restaurant in Prosperity, next door to Pioneer Foods. The cost is only $10 per person.

Trust me, you will enjoy this presentation. It is always one of our best chamber offerings.

Where else can you meet our legislators, have a wonderful breakfast, and chat with your neighbors in a comfortable setting?

Here at your chamber we are looking forward to having another great year.

Our 2013 Chamber of Commerce Directory is here, and it looks great. Stop by and pick up your copy.

As always, we would enjoy answering all your questions regarding chamber membership.

The benefits are numerous, both for you as well as us. We can always benefit by making new contacts and sharing our thoughts.

Whatever you do, please consider a chamber membership. Call 276-4274 and let Michelle, Liz, or me tell you of the many ways you can benefit by becoming a member of your Newberry County Chamber of Commerce.

Why not come to breakfast on Tuesday morning, Feb. 5 at Dee’s Family Restaurant near Prosperity and make new friends? You will be glad you did.
