GREENWOOD — Junior Romina Adum completed an undefeated day in doubles and singles action in the Wolves season opener on Friday, but Adum’s efforts were not enough as Newberry College fell 6-3 to the Lander Bearcats.

The Wolves (0-1) fell behind Lander University (1-0) early as the Bearcats took two of the doubles points from Newberry. The lone doubles victory for the Wolves came at No. 1 doubles where preseason All-SAC second team doubles pair Susana Aguirre and Adum took an 8-6 victory.

Adum came from behind at No. 2 singles picking up the victory after winning the second and third sets of her match with Marion Courbis.

Newberry’s final point came at No. 5 singles, where in her collegiate debut, freshman Tara Lamers earned a two-set victory over Tiffany Vanhpraseuth.
