Edna Mae Fowler Baldyga, 89, of Louisville, Ky., died Jan. 11, 2013, at the Episcopal Church Home.

Born in Newberry, on Jan.19, 1923, she graduated from Newberry College before working for Seagram’s Distillery in the 1940s. For more than 20 years she was a special ed teacher at the Binet School in Louisville.

Red will be remembered for her style, creativity, wit and bourbon brownies. Her humor could light up a room. Her devotion and attention were always to family first. She gave love and strength to all who were able to spend time with her. She will be greatly missed by those lucky enough to have known her.

Edna was predeceased by her husband, Walter V. Baldyga; and her son, Paul.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie Stagg (Robert), Philip, Amy and Julie Baldyga; two granddaughters, Jamie Patrick (Mark) and Stacie Nielsen; and two great-grandsons, Vincent and Jake.

Special thanks to Tammy Williams, Brenda Nash and Frances Clemons, who loved and cared for Edna.

A memorial service honoring Edna’s life will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in the Chapel of the Episcopal Church Home at 11 a.m.
