The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) group held a ceremony for local veterans in Newberry County for Veterans Day in November. Local veterans and National Guard members attended the ceremony. In the front from left to right are, Staff Sgt. Timothy Rochester, Staff Sgt. Joseph Metts, Sfc. Michael Marinucci, Major Jim Redden also director of JROTC, Newberry County Veteran Afairs Office and Vietnam Veteran David Parnell, Vietnam Veteran Jim Lander and Dick Broom; second row, Charles Tyler and Buster Walker.
On Nov. 23, the Jasper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held a veterans ceremony and a tree planting ceremony in honor of the veterans. At the ceremony, the Newberry High School JROTC posted the colors under the direction of Major Jim Redden. Redden is director of the JROTC. From left to right are Roger Perez, Jaqueline Lusk, Jordan Lusk, Tiffany Johnson and Daltan Rude.
On Nov. 23, the Jasper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), planted a tree at the General Thomas H. Pope National Guard Armory in honor of the veterans who have served the country. The participants were Patricia Huffstetler, Chaplain Faye Tillotson, Elizabeth Rasor, Regent Elizabeth Willingham, secretary Elsie Fields and Staci Henry. Fields donated the tree to be planted and Henry from the USDA supervised the planting of three.
