“I am proud of my boys,” said Newberry coach Brian Gordon. “We are a young team mostly freshmen and sophomores but they give their all every match. It does help that I have state finisher Jacob Hopper to help lead the team. Each week we seem to be getting better.”
“Our young men wrestled hard and continued to do well in head-to-head matches tying both schools 3-3. We plan to spend some quality time on the mats over winter break improving on our strengths and correcting our weaknesses,” said Whitmire coach Jarrod Kind.
Whitmire’s next contest will be Jan. 8 at Chester High School versus the Cyclones and Chapman High School. Wrestling will begin at 6 pm.
