ROCK HILL - For the second time this season, Newberry sophomore Haylee Lepaio has been named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Lepaio (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia) averaged a double-double over the past week, recording an average of 20.5 points per game and 13 rebounds per game as the Wolves finished the week 2-0 with wins over Voorhees and No. 14 Limestone.

In Newberry’s 71-68 win over Voorhees, Lepaio scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots. During Saturday’s overtime upset win over Limestone, Lepaio recorded 18 points and 18 rebounds. Lepaio’s double-double against Limestone was the fifth of the season and 18th of her career.

Lepaio also added three assists on the week, and now leads the SAC in both scoring and rebounding.

This is the second player of the week honor of the season for Lepaio, who received the nod on Nov. 19.
