Newberry — Newberry College is dedicated to make the process of transferring smooth and easy. The college has begun articulation agreements with several community colleges and technical colleges, to insure the process will be successful. In addition, the long-standing agreements will also be re-stated and re-worked to reflect the current core requirements, major requirements and transfer credit policy.

“Newberry College is becoming more transfer-friendly by actively recruiting at two-year colleges that send students on to four-year institutions,” said Dean of Enrollment Management, Delsie Phillips. “The College is assigning an admission counselor to develop deep relationships with those two-year colleges and to be present on nearby campuses at regular times so that students can ask questions or have a transcript evaluation. This kind of attention is very meaningful to transfer students and will assure them that they are welcome at Newberry.”

While most majors are possible for transfer, some require specific preparation and a higher grade point average.

Phillips said, “Nursing is a good example of a highly selective program since students must begin clinical work in the junior year. On the other hand, for most liberal arts subjects a general transfer curriculum will work.”

Transfer students have access to many academic scholarships and federal financial aid based upon the FAFSA. Transfers can also be recruited by the athletic teams but are subject to NCAA regulations regarding eligibility and scholarships.

“Newberry College is committed to making the transfer process one that is friendly, easy and smooth,” said Newberry College President Maurice Scherrens. “We are responding to the needs of the community and the interests of today’s student. We have a variety of options available for students either moving directly from a two-year college experience elsewhere, or for adult learners who would like to return to college after opting out some time ago.”

For more information about the transfer process contact the Newberry College Admissions Office at 1-800-845-4955, ext. 5127 or visit www.newberry.edu/admissions.
