NEWBERRY — Newberry Wolves linebacker Apollo Stretch (Columbia) has been named to the DAKTRONICS All-Super Region Two second team, as announced Thursday.
This is Stretch’s second consecutive DAKTRONICS all-region honor, after earning first team laurels in 2011.
The senior recently earned first team all-South Atlantic Conference honors for the second straight season after wrapping up a spectacular career.
He finished his career with 324 tackles, the sixth-most in Newberry history. His 224 solo tackles in his career rank second in school history.
This year he finished seventh in the conference with 9.4 tackles per game and a total of 103 tackles, with a conference-high 67 solo tackles.
He had 5.5 tackles for loss, forced one fumble, recovered one fumble and had two interceptions with a total of 76 return yards.
