NEWBERRY — The Newberry Wolves’ men’s golf team is ranked 14th nationally in Division II in the latest GolfStat head-to-head rankings, which were released Wednesday. Jon Weiss and Chandler Gruenemeier are each ranked in the top 100 in the national individual ratings.
The Wolves have risen throughout the fall season after four top 10 team finishes in four highly competitive tournaments and have made it up to 14th following the completion of the fall season.
Led by Weiss (Sumter, S.C.), who is tied for 69th individually with an adjusted stroke average of 72.56, and Gruenemeier (Jacksonville, Fla.), who is tied for 76th with an adjusted stroke average of 72.67, Newberry is calculated to have a 86% winning percentage through GolfStat’s system.
Newberry is the only South Atlantic Conference team ranked in the top 25 in the nation and is the sixth-highest ranked team in the Southeast Region. The Wolves are also the third-highest ranked team in the state behind USC Aiken in fifth and Coker in 10th.
