NEWBERRY — The Boys Farm is ready for some fall fellowship.

The non-profit, unique foster care organization has their eighth annual fall festival and annual barbecue fundraiser on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“This is the biggest (fund raiser) on campus,” says Patty Branham with Boys Farm.

People may come and go as they please and all of the rides and events are free; the only cost is for the barbecue meal with all proceeds going into Boys Farm.

Branham says there will be “bouncy rides, a hay ride to the pond, catch and release fishing and a band. Amick’s Junction Bluegrass band will perform.”

Boys Farm is located at 6655 S.C. Highway 34/121, as if one were leaving Newberry headed towards Greenwood.

Branham says people may come at any time during the allotted hours and they may also pick up food to go if they wish.

“In the past, we’ve sole about 400 plates (of food) and we are planning for that and more,” said Branham.

The boys and the houseparents will all be there and Branham says that in the past, the boys always volunteered to help serve. This year, she says if there are any volunteers who wish to serve, that would be appreciated so that the boys can go have fun at the festival.

If people are interested in volunteering on Saturday or wish for more information, they may call Branham or Andre Jennings at Boys Farm at 276-5910.
