He will be sworn into office at the Oct. 12 council meeting.
Senn says his chief goal for Newberry is to continue to keep Newberry moving forward.
"I'll concentrate on economic development, continue effective government and good communication with the citizens," he said.
The Newberry native grew up on a farm on Belfast Road and estimates his family has been in Newberry since about 1800.
"I have a great appreciation for Newberry, want it to do well and become an even better place to live and work," he said. "I've enjoyed being on city council and working to improve Newberry, whether it's something new we can do as a community or a fresh idea for better government."
Senn will be out visiting people and neighborhoods between now and October to talk with people and hear their ideas and concerns, whether it's about their city or their neighborhood.
He says anyone can call him at 405-0329 to discuss their thoughts.
"As mayor, I want to provide leadership and enthusiasm so Newberry can continue to progress," he says.
The open window for candidates to file closed Friday.
Along with Senn being the only mayor hopeful to file, councilmen incumbents, Lemont Glasgow, Zebbie Goudelock and Thomas Boyd were also sole candidacy seekers and will therefore serve another four-year term representing district seats 1,3 and 5 respectively. They will also be sworn in at the October meeting.
A special election will be held to fill Senn’s council seat, which represents district 2.

I have worked with Foster Senn handling the transport for his company international shipments.
Mr. Senn is a sincere person and having run a successful business with a proven track record he will bring fresh ideas to Newberry and spur economic development.
sincerely
