With concerns growning over the June 2 death of Anthony Hill, local, state and federal law enforcement agents are calling a community meeting for Thursday.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Newberry High School auditorium, located at 3113 Main St., Newberry.

On June 2, Anthony Hill was allegedly shot in the head and killed by Gregory Collins who later dragged Hill almost 11 miles.

The two men had reportedly spent the day drinking and recreating, according to Sheriff Lee Foster.

Collins is being held in jail without bond on the murder charge, which carries a penatly of life in prison.

Local, state and federal law enforcment say they are committed to a thorough, timely investigation of the case and prosecution.

“Justice demands it,” states South Carolina Law Enforcement Director Reginald Lloyd in a press release. “This community and most especially the family of Anthony Hill are well-served by a full, fair investigation.”

Members of the community are invited to attend Thursday’s meeting.
