GOOD ELVES — Santa was given a helping hand this week as the Sheriff’s Office provided Christmas gifts to 525 children and the Newberry Fire Department gave toys and food to 110 local families. Elijah Abrams, left, and Khalil Sheppard help deputies pick out toys for children.

Santa was given a helping hand this week as the Sheriff’s Office provided Christmas gifts to 525 children and the Newberry Fire Department gave toys and food to 110 local families. Both agencies say local residents and businesses have far surpassed normal giving levels in this year’s donations.
