A Silverstreet man ended up in jail after allegedly opening fire on a house in Union and then stealing a child’s scooter Saturday.

Wayne Eichelberger Jr., 26, 229 Green Acres Lane, Silverstreet, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

The incident report states deputies were dispatched early Saturday morning to 115 Sartor Road, Whitmire, in response to a report of a man with a gun. The victim told the deputies she and some friends were at her home when Eichelberger walked in and started an argument. She said he threatened her friends and then went outside and started shooting a gun. The woman said she feared for her safety, got her .22-caliber rifle and began shooting back. She said Eichelberger then got her daughter's scooter, put it in his vehicle and left.

The report states a deputy found Eichelberger’s gold 1976 Chevrolet on the side of Goldville Road with the scooter in the back seat. The driver's side tire was flat and the fender had two bullet holes in it.

The deputy stayed with the vehicle while another questioned the victim. The report states while the deputy was questioning the victim, Eichelberger walked out of the woods. Eichelberger was placed under arrrest and told the deputy he threw the gun beside the residence. The deputy found a Taurus .25-caliber Model PT-25 semi-automatic pistol on the ground beside the house. He also found a .25 caliber shell casing by the front door.
