At the noon hour today, emergency crews were headed to Whitmire, while the town was without power.

It appears that a wall at the old mill on Central Avenue fell down, said Whitmire Police Chief Jeremiah Sinclair.

The mill was in the process of being torn down, said Sheriff Lee Foster.

Sinclair said from the scene that live power lines were down, the road was blocked and the traffic light was out at Church Street and Railroad Avenue.

The road will be closed for much of the afternoon as crews clean up the debris.
