A dispute resulted in a shooting early Saturday at a local hotel.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the shooting at America’s Best Inn was over a “boyfriend and girlfriend” situation. America’s Best Inn is the old Newberry Inn located on Highway 34 at I-26.
One man left his room and date to get ice from the vending area. While there, reports say, he encountered another man.
Kevis Devon Price, 20, of 16 Cookie Lane, Newberry, allegedly intended to hit the other man over the head with a gun, but the gun went off.
The gun’s blast hit the victim in the head. The victim was not seriously injured, and at press time was no longer hospitalized.
Price was arrested and charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.
