Jordan Akeem Sarto, 20, of 11 Cromer Dairy Road, Newberry, was traveling with two others around 2:10 p.m. Monday on Main Street when the group spotted another car carrying someone Sarto had a dispute with, according to Newberry Police Captain Chuck Counts.
Sarto stopped his car suddenly on Main Street at Hunt Street, approached the other vehicle and had words with the other people, reports say. He then reportedly retrieved a pistol from his car and pointed it at the other vehicle.
"No shots were fired," said Counts.
The two cars then traveled to Glenn Street, where Sarto got behind the other vehicle and began chasing it through town, police say.
A state constable witnessed the events and called 911, asking for police to stop the chase.
Counts said the two cars sped down Main Street to Calhoun Street at speeds of 60 mph.
As the cars then wove through the Harrington Street area, Sarto was stopped at Glenn and Evans streets, according to Counts.
During a search, police found a pistol in Sarto's possession.
Police also stopped and searched the other vehicle. They report that no illegal items or guns showed up in that search.
Sarto was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a person under the age of 21, pointing and presenting a handgun, and reckless driving.
