Reuben’s Joshua Hedgepath is included with Newberry’s five, in addition to art teachers Ann Abbott and Becky Epperson as well as students Luke Dowd and D.J. Huichapa who were featured last Monday.
The poster and poetry competition has six age divisions and celebrates possibilities within a job.
After placing at the state level, the Newberry five are among 46 South Carolina winners advancing to the national finals.

What did you draw
for the contest?
“I drew a picture of a bridge. In the clouds I put career choices.”
What career do you
want when you are
an adult and why?
“I want to be a scientist and a rock star.
“I really like science and I think rock stars make a lot of money.”
How did it feel to win?
“I was excited and proud when (art teacher) Mrs. Abbott told me that I won.”
Do you think you’ll win at the national level?
“I don’t know, but it would be cool though.”
What do you like
to do for fun?
“I like to play baseball with my brother and my team Griffin Pools in Pomaria. I also like to play my Wii.”
