MOUNT PLEASANT — Earl Gilbert Buckheister Sr., 91, widower of Anita Morton Buckheister, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Springfield Place in Newberry.

Born on Nov. 11, 1918, in Charleston, he was a son of the late William Christian and Olivia Naylor Buckheister. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from the Charleston Naval Ship Yard. Mr. Buckheister was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his sons, Earl “Chip” (Peggy) Buckheister of Newberry and Robert Alan (Gale) Buckheister of Jonesboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Zachary Odom Buckheister, Matthew Odom Buckheister and Randall Buckheister.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Chapel. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
