Elections will not be until June, but the election season is gearing up with the filing books opening on Tuesday.

The filing period for the upcoming elections will open at noon Tuesday and continue until noon on March 30.

Locally, elections will be held for Districts 15 and 40 of the state House of Representatives. Those seats are held currently by Jeff Duncan and Walt McLeod. Duncan has announced that he is running for Congress.

County Council seat three currently held by Henry “Buddy” Livingson, seat six held by Bill Waldrop and seat seven held by John Caldwell are all up for grabs.

Also, the probate judge position currently held by Kelly Noble is open for opposition.

Democrats can register for the primary by calling C.A. Shealy at 276-5714 or Dave Waldrop at 276-5419 and Republicans can call 824-4586.
