Sheriff Lee Foster was reporting snow across the county earlier in the afternoon, but that temperatures are three to five degrees above freezing at the surface and any snow hitting the ground is melting.

Deputies are continuing to keep tabs on the weather and reporting to the sheriff, who is keeping in contact with school officials.

In Newberry County, S.C. Department of Transportation crews have pre-treated I-26 and have plows mounted and spreaders loaded.

Newberry High's baseball game against Union has be postponed for this afternoon. The game will be rescheduled.

Today's non-conference baseball game between Newberry College and Lenoir-Rhyne University has been postponed due to winter weather advisories in North Carolina. The two teams' non-conference game will now be played on Monday, March 29, at 4 p.m. at the Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Stadium.

Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne's next action will come on Friday night as the two teams start a three-game South Atlantic Conference series. Friday's first game is set for 7 p.m. at Newberry's Smith Road Complex, with a doubleheader set for noon Saturday.
