Whitmire took on Heathwood Hall and Mid-Carolina in its last regular season match of the year during senior night on Wednesday. The Wolverines lost to Mid-Carolina but defeated Heathwood Hall in the match.

“I feel like we ended our regular season on a positive note,” said Whitmire coach Jerrod King. “We defeated Heathwood Hall after losing to them in our season opener by only six points. In addition to that, I’m encouraged that our guys improved against Mid-Carolina by splitting our head-to-head match-ups 4-to 4. It was senior night and we took time to honor our three seniors who have meant a great deal to our program. Eric Shouse, Ethan Campbell, and Seth Horton were founding members of the WHS wrestling program and wrestled all five seasons of the program’s existence.”

During this time the seniors have placed in tournaments, won region titles, and provided much needed leadership for our young wrestlers.

“We will miss them tremendously next season,” added King.

The next match for Whitmire will be the Region 2-1A tournament at Landrum High School on Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. The will also be traveling to Chesterfield on Feb. 6 to compete in the 1A Upperstate Team Tournament.
