Dr. Michael White is going with a team of doctors and nurses from the Newberry area to the Cabaret Baptist Children’s Home in Bercy, Haiti on Feb. 1.

The local emergency room doctor will be there for one week to lead a medical clinic.

Shown at the right are Newberry medical professionals on a previous trip to Haiti. Chris Reppart, an operating room nurse at Newberry County Memorial Hospital is shown assisting White, in glasses on the right, performing surgery on an infant on a kitchen table. This photo is from a trip to Haiti in August 2007.

The child had an extra finger and it was surgically removed. He is now being adopted by a family in the United States. White and his wife Karin adopted a young Haitian boy this past year.

Pick up Wednesday’s edition and find out more about the planned trip, and supplies needed by the medical team.
