To be a host family, you must be able to provide a warm and loving home with full room and board. Students may share a room with siblings of the same sex. A host family consists of two or more people related by blood or marriage. Single parents with children may host if they meet all the requirements.
The students (ages 15-18) have as many interests and hobbies as any American teen. They are eager to share their native culture with their new American family, community and school. These students will attend the local high school in their district and participate in as many school activities as their interests and the school permits.
We ask that the families treat their student as they would their own; with love, concern, kindness, and the little extra parenting which helps a youth grow into adulthood. After we come and meet with the you, we will secure school approval and then assist you every step of the way to make this the experience of a lifetime.
These students speak English enough to function in an American school and home. Students have their own spending money — enough to cover school supplies, school fees, and personal items.
If your family is ready to host a student — a student can either be hosted for a full school year or a student that only wishes to come over for a semester — please contact Tarry and Melinda Long at (803) 271-2735. There are more students than host families — let’s make a student’s life happy for the 2010-2011 school year. Give us a call today.
