Four men are vying for two Silverstreet Town Council seats and the elections have been moved to the same day, Feb. 9.
In the upcoming election, Johnny Wix and Gerald Dominick are running to replace Vera Dale on council. Dale resigned due to illnesses in her family.
Ronnie Bowers and Michael Bouknight are running to replace Travis Gilliam, after Gilliam decided to run for mayor and was not challenged.
Due to the two elections falling within a month, state law is allowing them to be held on the same day.
Polling at the Silverstreet Town Hall will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 9, and voters must be registered by today to vote in the election.
The election will be run by the Newberry County Election Commission.
The Silverstreet Town Council has changed its January meeting from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 p.m. Wednesday night. The change in days will allow for members of the Municipal Association to meet with the Silverstreet Council.
