Three black males still at large robbed the Citgo in Prosperity last night, fleeing the store with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash drawer, $50 worth of Newport cigarettes and $130 worth of cigars.

A clerk at the 1339 C R Koon Highway store, tried unsuccessfully to lock the door around 1 a.m. after spotting the three men running towards it.

Wearing black and dark-colored hoodies, stocking hats and bandannas around their faces, one robber jumped over the counter while another walked around the counter with a black plastic bag. The third man held the clerk and the clerk’s friend at gunpoint while the others emptied the cash drawer and the smokes into the bag.

A prior shift worker reported seeing a male subject with the same clothing description as one of the robbers hanging around outside the store prior to the robbery.

In the police report, a “possible witness” reported seeing a red or burgundy Ford LTD leave the Hawg Heaven parking lot.

Bloodhounds followed a trail to the left side of the Hawg Heaven parking lot, and skid marks were found in the lot and photographed by police.

No one was hurt, and the clerk’s friend told the robber who held her at gunpoint that she was pregnant.
