Key NC hoopster named to ‘Tip-Off’ team

The North Georgia Athletic Department announced the 2009 Chick-fil-A Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team on Monday afternoon and Newberry College junior Helen McKinney of Owensboro, Ky. was among the six players honored.

McKinney averaged 17.5 points in the tournament, shooting .422 (14-33) from the field and averaging five rebounds. Newberry went 1-1 in the tournament with a win over North Georgia and a loss to Montevallo.

McKinney and the rest of the Newberry College women’s basketball team won a home opener on Wednesday against Armstrong Atlantic State, 64-61.
