Boeblingen, Germany — A memorial service for Cynthia Ann Nail of Boeblingen, Germany, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 9:30 a.m. at Aveleigh Presbyterian Church.

The daughter of Mary Ann Lynch and the late Martin S. Smith, Mrs. Nail was a graduate of Greenville High School, (Greenville, Ga.) and Augusta College with a masters degree in special education from the University of South Carolina.

A longtime resident of Anderson, Mrs. Nail worked as head of the Department of Early Childhood Education at Tri-County Technical College for many years and was a sitting member of the Southern Early Childhood Association. An active member of the community, Mrs. Nail was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and served as president of the Junior Service League in Anderson. She spent the last 14 years in Germany as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army in children and youth services and later in installation services. She continued to stay active in her community, serving as president of the Association for Young Children Europe.

Mrs. Nail is survived by her mother of Newberry, as well as her two sons, Jason Nail of Portland, Ore. and John Nail of Charleston; and two brothers, David Smith of Asheville, N.C. and Allen Smith of Newberry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, 1211 Calhoun St., Newberry, SC 29108.
