Police have arrested a Newberry man for breaking into a local support center.

Calvin Burton III, 26, of 1531 Caldwell St., Apartment A, was arrested and charged last week with burglary and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Burton is accused of breaking into Serenity Chapel by smashing out a window and stealing $283 worth of tools from the center, according to Newberry Police Captain Chuck Counts.

Counts said all of the stolen tools were recovered.

Burton is also charged with having stolen property from two burglaries in his own neighborhood.

At press time, Burton was still in custody on a $1,800 bond.
