Two cuffed in O’Neal Street shooting

Two people are in custody and police are looking for another in the shooting of a man on O’Neal Street.

Kevin McGraw was shot in the neck and face with a shotgun at the corner of O’Neal and Gilder streets in Newberry on Sept. 17, according to Newberry Police Investigator Kevin Atkins.

Atkins says McGraw is still being treated for his injuries at Palmetto Health Richland.

Two other people were also present at the time of the shooting, but were not injured.

Newberry police have charged Tyrone Cruz Cannon, 21, of 825 Pauline St., Newberry, and Staphon Mykell Gates, 20, of 953 Gilder St., Newberry, with assault and battery with the intent to kill.

Police are also looking for Rakeem Scurry, 18, of 920 Gilder St., Newberry, who has been charged with assault and battery with the intent to kill.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Newberry Police Department at 321-1010. Anyone that would like to remain anonymous can do so when calling the police department, or they can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC and the information they provide may make them eligible for a reward.
