M-C All-Star Minors still in the running for Dixie state tournament playoffs

The Mid-Carolina Minors All-Stars are still in the district tournament for a chance in the state playoffs after this weekend’s play.

The team beat Johnston Friday night 12-2 in five innings before shutting out Abbeville 6-0 Saturday afternoon.

Pitchers for both teams were Logan Folk, Corey Stone and Jhi Wright.

But the team fell 6-7 against Batesburg-Leesville last night, and will continue play tonight in double-elimination tournament in Laurens against Saluda at 6 p.m.

Mid-Carolina already beat Saluda for a sub-district win 10-0.

If Mid-Carolina wins tonight, they’ll play Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Cade Ruff was the top hitter for Friday’s game going 2 for 3 with a walk and three RBI’s.

Top hitters for Saturday were Cade Ruff, who went 2 for 3 with two runs scored; Trey Kinard, who went 2 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBI’s and a walk, and Kevin Yoder, who went 2 for 3.

Top hitters for Sunday were Corey Stone, who went 2 for 4 with one run, and Kevin Yoder, who was 2 for 3 with one RBI.
