Dear Editor,

As chairperson of the American Legion Unit 24 Auxiliary’s Poppy Days for 2009, I wish to express the auxiliary’s sincere thanks to all who helped make this project a success.

We appreciate the cooperation and publicity given to our efforts by The Newberry Observer, WKDK radio station, the mayor and his staff and the local merchants who let us use the front of their businesses to distribute our poppies. We also appreciate the help of auxiliary volunteers.

Newberrians proudly display the small poppy flower as a symbol of their patriotism. Each year, the American Legion Auxiliary promotes Poppy Days during the Memorial Day weekend and Newberrians always respond wholeheartedly.
