NEWBERRY — Newberry City Council voted to move forward with a grant that would upgrade water and sewer services in the Mollohon Mill Village.

City leaders are applying for a Community Development Block Grant for $500,000 to upgrade the water and wastewater lines in a portion of the Mollohon Mill Village. The project will be the final phase of water and sewer upgrades for the community.

But to apply for the grant, City Council first needed to say they would spend $50,000 to match the CDBG grant funding.

The grant application is due in April 15. The S.C. Department of Commerce will announce which projects have be funded in July.
