NEWBERRY — Newberry Middle School Volleyball Tigers had 13 wins and nine losses this year.
This was the Tigers first year with consecutive wins over rival Mid-Carolina Middle School.
“We had some great leaders from the eight grade this year. One of the leaders was Erika Moreno who scored 18 straight points in a row in a game,” said coach Loretta Richey. “Each of the girls that played this year were all winners who gave 100 percent percent each game and cheered their fellow teammates on even when the going got tough. At our very last game against Ninety Six, we had over six blocks at the net and gave them a run for their money. It took Ninety Six the best out of three in order to win and even at that our score was very close. It was a very great year for Newberry Middle School.”
The team was coached by Richey and Crystal Abore.
