POMARIA —The Old Pomaria School committee has about two months left of planning for the May 18 festival to help restore the old school.
Committee members met Monday night in the renovated cafeteria area.
This year in addition to music, food and other festivities, the committee is also planning for a parade at 10:30 a.m. which will circle around the town starting at Rest Street and ending by the flagpole in front of the school.
Committee chairman Billy Fanning said there will be a dedication at the flagpole and then people can head to the festival which will end by 11 p.m.
The festival will last all day for the non-profit old school committee, which wants to help restore the building that was passed as a penny sales tax project.
Fanning did report that there are three rooms that have been complete as far as painting goes and the fourth room was started. The committee received financial help from the Boy Scouts.
The committee also briefly talked about T-shirts but will look at designs at the next meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. March at the old school. Mayor Darryl Hentz will provide information at the next meeting.
Local vendors are still needed for the festival and would need to be set up by 9 a.m. because of the parade traffic.
As far as music, there will be several local area bands that will play including a musician from Columbia who is a Nashville artist, Keith Dominick, Derek Fulmer and Steven Rumfelt. They will play until the festival ends. A beer wagon will be available after 4 p.m.
