Waters, Sessions honored at Newberry Elementary

Mickey Waters, an instructional assistant at Newberry Elementary, has been with the school for 23 years. Waters was honored at an assembly Thursday as the 2013-14 Support Staff Employee of the Year. Here Principal Reggie Wicker congratulates Waters on the honor. The honor was combined with the Teacher of the Year and WLTX Golden Apple award.

Newberry Elementary music teacher April Sessions was honored as the 2013-14 Teacher of the Year at her school in a surprise ceremony coupled with the Support Staff honor and WLTX Golden Apple award. Newberry Elementary Principal Reggie Wicker congratulated Sessions on her honor. In addition to teaching Newberry, Sessions also teaches at Whitmire Community. “I love those ‘aha moments’ when the kids are singing, playing at recess and then they come back in a week and I see how they’ve been working and practicing,” said Sessions.

April Sessions’ family came to congratulate her on being the 2013-14 Teacher of the Year for Newberry Elementary. she has been teaching for five and a half years.
