NEWBERRY — Katie Bell Derrick Cotney, 84, widow of Troy Wesley Cotney, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on Dec. 26, 1928, in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late Claude Benjamin “Tot” and Katie Wessinger Derrick. Mrs. Cotney was retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, Bobby Cotney of Prosperity; a sister, Elberta Dominick of Little Mountain; a brother, S.E. Derrick of Chapin; grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Lambert and Bryan Troy Cotney and a great-grandson, Jacob Lambert. She was predeceased by a sister, Retha Eleazer and a brother, Alvin Derrick.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Wako Cotney. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Bryan Cotney, Dean Cotney, Charles Huffstetler, Mike Dominick and Steve Dominick.
