Mitchell appointed COO of Doncasters Group

TRENT, UK — Doncasters Group Ltd., the global precision engineering group that has a plant in Newberry, has appointed Raymond (Ray) Mitchell as Chief Operating Officer. Effective immediately, Mitchell assumes operational responsibilities for the multi-national group.

Doncasters also operates plants in Europe, China and Mexico.

Prior to joining the organisation, Mitchell was vice president of Alcoa and president of Alcoa Power and Propulsion, a global leader in airfoil and structural investment castings for the aerospace, defence, energy and industrial markets. Its products are used primarily in jet engines and industrial gas turbines. Mitchell was also a member of Alcoa’s Employee Relations Council, a leadership team that provides strategic guidance on employee relations matters throughout the company’s U.S. operations.

“I am excited about joining Doncasters. I look forward to working with Tariq (Jesrai, chairman and CEO) and the team to increase the top line while accelerating operating performance,” said Mitchell.

The Doncasters Group is a leading international manufacturer of performance and tolerance critical engineering components for a variety of end market applications. Core manufacturing processes include precision casting, forging, fabrication, machining and production of superalloys.

Key products include turbine airfoils, rings & casings, structural castings, compressor airfoils, combustion components and fabrications and exhausts for application in gas turbine engines, aerostructures and components for airframe applications, compressor and turbine wheels for the specialty turbocharger market, and ranges of fastenings for construction, industrial, truck, recreational and military markets.

The company offers supply chain integration solutions, delivering complex assemblies and engine-ready components to its customers. Doncasters currently employs approximately 5,000 people in over 20 sites across the UK, Continental Europe, United States, China and Mexico.
